Dog Eared was inspired by lettering originally created for a college poster design project, which was recognized in 2007 by AIGA Pittsburgh’s annual show. Each character of the Dog Eared typeface began its life as a half-inch-wide strip of paper, folded and Scotch-taped into formation, and then scanned and recreated digitally.
All numerals and upper- and lowercase letters of the alphabet have at least one alternate version. Dog Eared is offered both as a two-component chromatic font (Dog Eared Solid) and as a single color font (Dog Eared Striped). The two fonts, designed to preserve the letters’ two-sided appearance are available from Hype For Type and MyFonts.
